Our Story
We sent the first patient text message. And we’ve been innovating ever since.
Before texting was a thing
It began back in 2000, before SMS texting really took off. Solutionreach Founder, Jim Higgins, believed that technology could enable simple communications between businesses and their customers. With a small, innovative team, he created Communitect, a company that jump-started the mobile banking revolution and enabled banks to text their customers.
What if practices could text patients?
After learning about the ever-growing problem of patient no-shows in dental practices, Jim knew that Communitect technology could help. After integrating with leading dental Practice Management Systems, Communitect transformed into a dental giant and was rebranded to Smile Reminder.
Beyond text messaging
By 2005, automated text messaging was all the rage. Smile Reminder stayed ahead of the curve and built out more communication features like email reminders, patient recall, customizable newsletters, and more – all designed to help dentists connect with patients.
Not just for dental
By 2011, Smile Reminder was a robust platform of high-tech patient engagement tools. The team realized that other healthcare providers wanted to improve the patient experience, too. The company soon became the standard for patient engagement among optometrists, cosmetic surgeons, and dermatologists. It was renamed, Solutionreach.
